Job Description

The Mahopac Central School District seeks to fill the following anticipated probationary position for the 2026-2027 school year:

Library Media Specialist – Austin Road Elementary School

Foster a creative, flexible, and welcoming environment so that the Library Media Center and Library Media Specialist are an essential part of the learning community
Collaborate with teachers and students to design and teach engaging inquiry and learning experiences that incorporate multiple literacies, resource-based instructional strategies and foster critical thinking
Encourage the use of instructional technology to engage students and to improve student learning
Review, revise, and properly maintain the selection, reviewing, acquisition, processing, and maintenance policies of library resources
Commit to remaining current in professional practices and developments, information technologies, educational research and personal growth
Organize an enrichment reading program for students who would like to participate
Collaborate with other district library staff to ensure alignment of information literacy instruction and a cohesive, districtwide library program
Promote a love of reading and lifelong learning
Manage Library Budget
Performs other duties as assigned
MUST possess the NYS certification(s) required for the position
