| Leave Replacement Special EducationTeacher (3rd Grade ICT) | | The Mahopac Central School District seeks to fill the following position for the 2025/2026 School Year: Special Education Teacher (3rd Grade ICT) – Leave Replacement – Fulmar Road Anticipated Effective Dates – January 5, 2026 - June 26, 2026 Qualifications: - NYS SWD K-12 certification required
- Has experience working in a school setting providing data driven instruction for children with mild to moderate disabilities
- Has experience administering educational evaluations including Wechsler Individual Achievement Test-4
- Demonstrates the ability to work cooperatively and actively communicate with administrators, teachers, support staff, and parents
- Demonstrates the ability to plan, schedule, and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously; including the tasks to be implemented by support staff (Teaching assistants & Aides) assigned to the class
- Demonstrates superior written and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrates the ability to design and develop IEPs, safety plans, and update behavior intervention plans in consultation with support staff
- Demonstrates the ability to use Evidenced based instructional strategies and/or curriculum differentiated to meet the unique students in the class
Responsibilities include: - Collaborate with General Education Teachers Co-plan and co-deliver instruction in inclusive classroom settings. Align teaching strategies with general curriculum standards and individual student needs.
- Develop and Implement IEPs Write and manage Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in compliance with state and federal regulations. Monitor and document student progress toward IEP goals.
- Differentiate Instruction Provide targeted instruction based on students’ learning styles and needs. Adapt materials and strategies to ensure access for all learners.
- Use Data to Drive Instruction Collect and analyze student performance data. Modify instruction based on formative assessments and behavioral data.
- Support Behavioral and Social-Emotional Development Implement behavior intervention plans and positive behavioral supports. Foster a safe, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment.
- Communicate with Families and Staff Maintain regular communication with parents/guardians regarding student progress. Participate in IEP meetings, parent-teacher conferences, and team meetings.
- Ensure Compliance and Documentation Maintain accurate records, including IEP paperwork, service logs, and progress reports. Follow school, district, and state guidelines for special education services.
- Engage in Professional Development Attend training sessions and stay current on best practices in special education and inclusive teaching.
